For the OP, for 3K you can build a sweet 2700K rig and run it at close to 5 GHz. There is plenty of info on the internets if you don't know how to build one. Everything...

hmm ? If you say... On a system running x64 Vista Home Basic, you can add as much as 8 GB of RAM. x64 Vista Home Premium supports as far as 16 GB of RAM. But it will take no less than 128 GB of RAM in order to satiate x64 Vista Business, Enterprise and Ultimate. 128 GB of RAM is the maximum support...

I have 12 gigs of ram and win 7 64 bit.
It doesn't help FSX, but 64 bit Photoshop loves all the ram, and uses the extra for a scratch disk.
