FedEx MD-11 Parking Issues

Postby coruiz » Thu Jul 12, 2012 10:19 pm

Hey guys,

I am currently flying the IFDG MD-11 FedEx livery. I landed at KTPA and when I go to Tampa Ground, it doesn't give me an option to park at all, just "takeoff" options.

atc_parking_codes=fdx
atc_parking_types=CARGO, RAMP_CARGO

thats what is on my aircraft.cfg folder

I then tried it on other add-on airports that I have and they all worked perfectly, maybe the plane is too big for KTPA lol. I see MD-11's at KTPA on a daily basis since I work next to the airport.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris

There are 5 "Ramp Cargo" spots (43,44,45,46,47) by the DHL/Fedex apron. They have a radius of 50 (in FSX, FS9 radius maybe different) and parking codes for UPS,FDX,DHL. If you have Afcad/ADE maybe remove the airline codes from one of those spots. If that does not work increase the radius.

I guess I have to increase the radius because the World of AI FedEx package fits in those cargo spots therefore it must be the size of my MD-11 plane. Thanks Martin

Hey Martin, is this the same with a DC-10?

I bought the DC-10 Collection form JustFlight and flew a United flight into TIA and TampaGround would not give me any parking options, only refuel and takeoff. I thought it would at least let me park in the outer lot, I wonder if I could edit that to accept the DC-10?

I'm not real big on editing files, but I'm a fast learner.

Probably a similar issue. Best is to look into the "aircraft.cfg" to see what kind of parking it wants. This file is located in the Aircraft's main folder. /FSX/Simobjects/Aircraft/DC10 or so.

atc_parking_codes=???
atc_parking_types=???

Then in ADE (http://www.airportdesigneditor.co.uk/) one loads the Afcad for KTPA (/FSX/Addon Scenery/FlyTampa-Tampa/scenery/KTPA_ADEX_FLYTAMPA.BGL) and edits any desired parking spot to fit this aircraft. This is fairly easy within ADE's interface.

Going back to my IFDG MD-11,

atc_parking_codes=fdx
atc_parking_types=CARGO, RAMP_CARGO

That is what I have in the aircraft.cfg in the [fltsim.X] section

I made the parking spaces a lot bigger using ADE and no luck.

I dont know what to do.

Should I mess with the [airplane_geometry]?

Thanks

Thanks Martin, I'll give it a go!!

And sorry for interrupting your post coruiz, I thought going back to July 14th maybe your issue had been resolved.

You can also just go to another default airport with your airplane, see where it assign you to park. Then load that airport in ADE (load stock airport, enter ICAO). Then look at the parking spot you got assigned and recreate one with the same properties at KTPA.

@JimBeanBlack, no big deal, we are both having the same problems so maybe we can mutually find a solution :)

@Martin, I will try that and see if I can fix it.

I also tried parking with a POSKY 777 and it did not give me any parking spots either.

Also, I used an SGA MD80 American and it sent me to Airside D for some reason and the American gates were empty. I had the correct ATC parking codes and types.
