Compatibility with Thomas Kwong's VHHH 2005b

Postby benjaminwen » Fri Jul 04, 2008 12:42 pm

First of all, thank FlyTampa for the fatastic scenery :D

If you intalled Thomas Kwong's VHHH 2005b(FS9), you will find 2 Tsing-ma Bridges and some buildings in water.
As the 9dragons scenery, there is a way to fix the problem.

1.Open \Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Addon Scenery\VHHH\vhhh2005b\scenery

Find these files,
rename Excl_bridge.bgl to Excl_bridge.BAK
rename Excl_tungchung.bgl to Excl_tungchung.BAK
rename misc_objects.bgl to misc_objects.BAK
rename tm_aprt.bgl to tm_aprt.BAK

2. open \Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Addon Scenery\scenery
and find
rename VHHH_LC.bgl to VHHH_LC.BAK

That's All, Good Luck!

BTW, this method is not official 8)

Do what the manual/readme says and you should be fine.

Also (optional) rename ships.bgl to ships.bak to get rid of Thomas's static ships.

In the past when I tried to use the method with 9Dragons,Hong Kong would'nt load anymore as I renamed files to .BAK,so my question is can you just DELETE the files you said to change to .BAK,instead of renaming them to .BAK

Recently I've been having the same problem too. For example, instead of file XYZ.bgl becoming XYZ.bak they are now becoming XYZ.bak.bgl . The .bgl is no longer being replaced.

Instead what I now do is I created a folder called FS backups outside of FS9 and copy the files to there, then I delete the files in the sim. Hope this helps.

I think I'll do the same, that's very good advice _Dre_,Thanks.

Out of curiousity by using this method to use Thomas Kwongs VHHH with FlyTampa Kai Tak,did you install Thomas's replacement Scenery/Cities/Hong Kong/Texture folder or should you just leave that default?

I just have Mr. Kwong's normal VHHH scenery with AES. As well as Benjamin's adjustments mentioned above (except for the ships).

It worked for me. I had to place it above the FlyTampa Kai Tak scenery though I think.

The FlyTampa scenery is worth it alone in the accuracy of the buildings in Hong Kong.

I am very happy with the product.
