Initial Release Autogen problem.

Postby martin[flytampa] » Tue Nov 24, 2009 9:22 pm

If you purchased within the first 1-2 hours and are having problems with Autogen not appearing, please do the following.

Using Windows explorer, browse to FSX/Autogen/

Check if you have the file: default.xml(before_FlyTampa_Grenadines)

If yes, delete default.xml and rename default.xml(before_FlyTampa_Grenadines) to default.xml

Download and run the file below:

www.flytampa.org/dwl/Fly-Grenadines_FSX ... Editor.exe

On a technical note, the problem was related to users who have previously installed other Addons that also edit the default.xml file and left it in UTF8 format where the default FSX installation appears to come with this file in UTF16 format.

This does not affect everybody, only if the islands are completely lacking of autogen (as seen in the screensots) the fix is required.

Hey Martin,

I would suppose that I am also one of those 10 and find myself trying to fly underground.

BOOM: Check that the following for installed:

FSX/scenery/world/scenery/AFX_TVSU_flytampa_dummy.bgl
FSX/scenery/world/scenery/AFX_TVSM_flytampa_dummy.bgl
& 3 with the other ICAOs.

Within the Addon Scenery/FlyTampa-Grenadines/scenery/ folder you should have:

TVSU_ADE_FLYTAMPA.BGL
TVSM_ADE_FLYTAMPA.BGL
etc

as well as:

ZVSU_ADE_FLYTAMPA.BGL
ZVSM_ADE_FLYTAMPA.BGL
(same ICAOs but first letter Z).

Also, in the your TVSM shot it appears the mesh-terrain is missing, not fully loaded yet or the Mesh settings are too low. Could you check under FSX Display Settings what your Mesh slider settings are. "Mesh resolution" slider needs to be at the very least 38m, below that I get results like in your screenshot.

Lastly, the airport textures seem to be rendering at half the resolution they are supposed to & very blurry. Check under The Graphics tab whatt the "Global Texture resolution" slider is at. Below a shot of how it should be much higher-res & sharper when this slider is put on its maximum setting.

Hello Martin,

I´m having the same problems (missing autogen). I don´t have the mesh problem though.

Checked the files you mentioned and noticed that the files that should be in the FSX/scenery/world folder are missing.

Checked and tried everything else you recommend. As far as I can tell all of the other files seem to be in order. I tried the latest autogen-editor.

I also tried to reinstall the scenery, but that didn´t help.

Regards and greetings from Frankfurt.

That is odd. Did you follow the method of pointing the installer to the main FSX directory. Those files scenery/world files missing might indicate the installer isn't finding things where they are supposed to be.

Within the FSX/Autogen folder, do you see any files named:

xxxx(before_FlyTampa_Grenadines)

Hey Martin,I checked FSX/scenery/world/scenery/AFX_TVSU_flytampa_dummy.bgl
FSX/scenery/world/scenery/AFX_TVSM_flytampa_dummy.bgl
& 3 with the other ICAOs.
All is good.
I then checked
ZVSU_ADE_FLYTAMPA.BGL
ZVSM_ADE_FLYTAMPA.BGL
(same ICAOs but first letter Z).
and I have duplicates of each file,Should I delete 1 of each?

Thanks for your settings screenshot Ill make sure I follow it!
Thanks very much for the help! Cheers! :)

If you mean actualy copies yes, delete them.

Be careful tho, the ones with the Z ICAO might only appear to have copies, like

ZGPZ_ADE_FLYTAMPA.bgl
ZGPZ_ADE_FLYTAMPA_CVX.bgl

the CVX files aren't copies, they are needed.

Hi Martin!

Thanks for your fast reply. The installer found the FSX directory without a problem (system drive: C, fsx drive:D).

The files you mentioned in the FSX/autogen folder have been added correctly.

Hi Martin,

hmmm. Seems that the installation only seems to be a problem on my computer. Every other installation (120 sceneries for FSX so far) has worked fine for me.

Since things are working fine for others, I´ll have to try to deinstall and reinstall the scenery again.

Can´t really think of anything that might be causing the problem. Is there anything else I should try?

I also use FTX, but I disabled their sceneries before installing yours.

Regards,

Ingo

Ok, it seems that the default.xml stays the same size all the time even when running that configurator a couple of times, now I am running W7 64 but UAC is turned off and I have not had any dramas with anything else before, inclusive of all your other FSX products.
