Scenery problem

Postby apomet » Wed Nov 03, 2010 1:57 am

Hello,
I am new to FlyTampa.Yesterday I downloaded the demo version of Dubai for FS 2004.I installed it and worked OK except for the limitations of course (red crosses and purple buildings). Then I purchased Dubai and installed it.Today when I landed on Dubai the concrete taxiway as I move disappears and the sand underneath is exposed.I reinstalled the program unchecking the paved edgelights but the same thing happens.
Any suggestions?

Looks like a flattening issue. Is it possible you have an additional Afcad file for OMDB from an AI program for example?

Also, in the default FS9 Cessna, non slew mode, what is the elevation reading? Shift-Z to see it.

I searched my Addon scenery/scenery folder for an additional afcad for OMDB but I didn't find one.The elevation on runway 12L with default Cessna is 36.9 ft.
I am using World of AI packages for FS9.I will remove the Addon scenery/scenery folder and make a new approach to see if there is something in this folder causing the problem and I will let you know.

No good. The same thing happens even if I remove the scenery .When I am on the runway everything looks ok.But when I enter the taxiway then as I move the taxiway disappears.Look how the airport looks from the top down view.

It should be 37.5 ft in Cessna. Definitely something is interfering with the airport elevation. If you have a lot of Addons, I suggest you make a copy of your scenery.cfg. Then edit the original in Notepad and cut everything away except Dubai and the default FS9 entries. This is just to test if something is interfering or not.

Also, check that your FlyTampa-Dubai/scenery/ folder has the flatten.bgl

I deactivated all addon sceneries but the same thing persists.I did not erase them from the scenery.cfg I just deactivated them from the FS menu.I think it is the same..The flatten.bgl exists in the scenery folder.Any other thoughts?

I even tried once more this time by modifying scenery.cfg and erasing all sceneries except the default from scenery.cfg.No success.

The only clue I have is that there is something changing the scenery's elevation. If you have the Afcad program, scan for OMDB Afcads to see if there are any apart from our sceneries and while at it open the AF2_OMDB from our scenery, select File-Properties and see if the elevation there is 34.

I have searched all my comuter for any afcad containing OMDB but without any success.I have Airport Design Editor installed.I open it, loaded the af2_flytampa_omdb.bgl file from your scenery opened File/Airport properties and the elevation I get is 34 feet. The addons I am using are AES,Level-D 767-300,FS Global 2010,World of AI, Ground Environment Pro and many sceneries as well.Is it possible that is issue is relared to my graphics card?I am using an ATI Radeon HD 5870 with no issues so far.

I doubt it is your Gfx card. From the Addons you listed, FS Global is a Mesh Addon (terrain elevation). Is there a easy way to deactivate it?

I have already removed everything from the scenery.cfg file.I will now move as well all the files of FS Global to another location on my pc to be sure that FS9 does not find them and I will give it a try.In order to solve this elevation issue is it possible to change the elevation myself in order to stop having this issue?
There is also the solution of making a fresh install of FS9 and all it's elements but this is what Iwould like to avoid.

Nothing works. If you have nothing else to suggest I will reinstall FS9 step by step in order to try to find out what is causing the problem.
